A 29-year-old St. Thomas man is facing assault charges following an incident with a police officer.
Police say the man was walking on Kains St. Sunday morning around 2am. An officer observed the man wearing a boxing glove on his left hand and carrying a piece of wood in his right hand.
Once the man noticed the officer he approached him "in an aggressive manner". Police say the man then threw the piece of wood at the officer and ran away.
The piece of wood missed the officer, which allowed him to chase down the man.
After a bit of a struggle, police arrested the man and took him to the station.
Police later found out that the St. Thomas man was on probation with several conditions.
The St. Thomas man was charged with assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and breaching probation.
