Charges Laid In Mosque Threat

London police have announced that charges have been laid in connection with threats made at the London Muslim Mosque.

Police were called to the mosque at 151 Oxford St. W on Sunday around 1:40pm, after a man allegedly threatened to shoot people with a gun inside the mosque. It was later determined that the man was not armed.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the mosque says the incident began when a man appeared and asked for food. He later became aggressive and allegedly began making threats. Police were called and the man was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

On Monday, police announced that Omid Ghaffouri, 24, of London is charged with uttering threats of death or bodily harm, disturbing religious worship or certain meetings, and failing to leave premises when directed.

Police say there is no reason to suggest the incident was racially motivated or a hate crime.
