Charges Laid In Pair Of Bank Robberies

Five people have been charged in relation to a pair of bank robberies in London last week.

London police were called about two bank robberies less than an hour apart last Wednesday night. The first one happened at the TD Canada Trust at 1055 Wonderland Rd. N, the other at the TD Canada Trust at 1420 Ernest Ave.

In both cases, two men walked into the bank, armed with a weapon and demanded cash before taking off with an undisclosed amount of money. A wallet was also taken from a woman inside one of the banks at the time of the robbery.

No one was hurt in either incident.

Forty minutes after the last robbery, police arrested two men in a vehicle in the area of Emerson Ave. and Marion St. That was followed by the arrest of three men and a woman from a home on Emerson Ave.

Police searched the home on Emerson Ave, as well as three other locations on Friday.

Two men and a woman are now charged with three counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, and possession of stolen property under $5,000. Two of them also face a charge of possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police say two other men have also been charged with being an accessory to an armed robbery and possession of stolen property.

A fifth man, who was originally arrested in connection with the robberies, has been released without being charged.

The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating links between these robberies and a number of other robberies within the city over the past two months.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
