Knights Trade For Sompel, Salituro And Stephens

The London Knights added some firepower Monday in advance of the OHL trade deadline.

The team acquired defenceman Mitchell Vande Sompel from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for Ian Blacker and four draft picks.

The 19-year-old London native has 37 points in 37 games for the Generals this season and will add some firepower to the Knights already potent defensive corps.

The Knights also acquired forward Dante Salituro from Ottawa.

The 20-year-old signed an entry level, two-way contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets in July and has spent time this season with the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL, as well as the Cincinnati Cyclones and Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL.

Last season, he had 83 points in 65 games with the Ottawa 67's.

To get Salituro, the Knights sent Chris Martinet and three draft picks to Ottawa.

As well, the Knights announced late Monday afternoon, that the hockey club has acquired forward Mitchell Stephens from the Saginaw Spirit.

The 19-year-old had 38 points in the 2015-2016 season with Saginaw.

In exchange for Stephens, the Spirit will get seven draft picks from the Knights.
