What Is Open And Closed On New Year's Day

With 2017 arriving on a Sunday, many Londoners will have a three-day weekend.

Government offices, banks, and London Public Library branches will be closed January 1 and 2. There will be no mail delivery either day.

Major malls including White Oaks Mall, C.F. Masonville Place, and Westmount Shopping Centre, all LCBO, Beer Stores, and the Labatt Retail Store on Richmond St. will be closed on New Year's Day only. The Covent Garden Market, grocery stores, Costco Wholesale, and most drug stores will also be shuttered for the day.

Shoppers Drug Mart locations at 510 Hamilton Rd. and in Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Rd. N, In Byron at 1224 Commissioners Rd.W. will be open from 10am-6pm.

Movie theatres and the city's three outdoor skating rink at Victoria Park, the Covent Garden Market, and Storybook Gardens Skate Trail will be open. Eldon House will host its annual free New Year's Levee from 1pm to 4pm on January 1. The London Lightning will play a matinee game against the Windsor Express at Budweiser Gardens at 2pm.

The LTC will be running on its usual Sunday schedule.

School age children do not return to the classroom until January 9.
