Police Looking For Dog Thief

London police are looking for a suspect after a pet dog was stolen from a Huron St. plaza.

According to the London Police Service, a man located a lost dog in a plaza at 1365 Huron St. on Thursday around 3:42pm, and claimed that the animal was his. However, the man was not the rightful owner, and was last seen heading north on Highbury Ave. with the dog in a cubed U-Haul.

Police were then called around 5:10pm.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, with scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing tan work boots with black toes, light coloured pants, a black baseball hat and black and yellow jacket with Wolverine written down one of the arms.

The dog is described as an 11-year-old male Brittany spaniel, white in colour with a brown mask. The dog’s name is Max.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact London police.

While police have not given any indication that this incident is connected, the dog abduction comes after a string of animal deaths and mutilations in the London area.  Two weeks ago on December 16, a small animal, believed to be a dog, was skinned, beheaded, and left in a parking lot on Adelaide St.  In the summer, a mutilated cat as found in Springbank Park, a beheaded bunny was discovered on a Western University walking trail, and a goose was stabbed and left on the doorstep of the London Humane Society. In February, two skinned and beheaded coyotes were discovered in east London.
