Racer Paul Tracy Getting Honorary Fanshawe Diploma

Canadian race car driver Paul Tracy will receive an honorary diploma from Fanshawe College this week.

Tracy raced in the Championship Auto Racing Teams and Verizon IndyCar Series from 1991 to 2007. With 31 wins under his belt, Tracy gained a reputation for speed, tenacity, and excitement.

“Paul is a person whose life matches the very spirit Fanshawe represents,” says Fanshawe President Peter Devlin. “Paul has always been bold, decisive and successful in his life and he continues to transform himself to this day. From race car driver to business owner and TV personality, Paul has looked for new challenges and met them with courage. We are proud to have him join the Fanshawe family.”

Tracy's racing career began with go-karts in his hometown of Toronto. He became the youngest ever Canadian Formula Ford Champion at the age of 16 and still holds the record for the youngest winner of the single seater Can-Am series in 1986. He moved onto the Championship Auto Racing Team (CART) circuit in 1991.

In 2014, Tracy was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.

Tracy will be handed his honorary diploma at 10am on Thursday in the Progress Building at the Western Fair District.
