Family Centre Gets Financial Boost

An agency that offers families several resources and on-site programs has received a $25,000 boost.

The money for the new Family Centre Westminster was donated on Friday by the Cowan Foundation.

Construction of the new centre at St. Francis Catholic School is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. It will be the latest in a network of Family Centres run by London’s Child and Youth Network to pop up in a London neighbourhood.

“The Cowan Foundation’s investment in the Westminster neighbourhood will help create a warm, welcoming Family Centre where families can access a variety of supports, services and opportunities,” says Lynne Livingstone, chair of London’s Child and Youth Network.

Other family centres were previously established in Argyle, Whiteoaks, Carling-Thames, and Westmount.

Last year, the Ministry of Education awarded a $440,975 grant in support of a Family Centre in the Westminster-area.
