Gearing Up For The Pride Parade

The head of London's Pride festivities says we could be in for the biggest parade yet.

Andrew Rosser says he is incredibly excited for this Sunday's parade, the culmination of the London Pride Week events. Among the new entrants in the parade this year are some very talented musicians.

“This year, Western is putting in their marching band as well, which we haven’t had. So that’s a first for us,” says Rosser.

Rosser is a firm believer in the the importance of having a Pride parade, and is excited to share the celebrations with all Londoners.

“I think the parade is always a great time for people to come out and celebrate. And so whether you’re walking in the parade or you’re watching along the side with your family, it really is a great time,” Rosser says. “Lots of colour, lots of great music, and we’re really excited, as well this year, that we’ll have members of all three major political parties walking.”

Since last Thursday, London has been full of Pride-related events, such as the Art show, plays at the Palace Theatre, and a Transgender-hosted Coffee house. Rosser is quite happy with how the events have gone, and is excited for the weekend’s festivities.

“Everybody knows definitely Pride for the parade, but we had actually over 25 events the 11 days, so the parade really is capping it all off,” says Rosser.

The parade will start at 12:30pm at the Western Fair District. It will turn down Ontario St., then onto Queen, Wellington, and finally ending in Victoria Park.
