London Showcases Coming To CMW

London will make a name for itself at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.

Tourism London in collaboration with London Music Office announced Thursday it will be presenting two artist showcases during the week long event.

"London is On!" will bring a country showcase to the Cadillac Lounge on Queen St. May 4 and a multi-genre showcase to UG3 on King St. May 6.

“London has incredible musical talent to offer. These showcase opportunities create national recognition for London’s rising stars at Canada’s premier music event. These showcases not only spotlight the artists performing but continue to build awareness for the diverse and powerful musicians that call London home,” said Cory Crossman, London’s music industry development officer.

Artists performing in the multi-genre showcase were selected through the 2016 Made in London competition by Classic Rock, FREE 98.1. In addition to grand prize winners, previous finalists were also considered for available showcase opportunities.

"Made in London was created along with the inception of Classic Rock, FREE 98.1, as a way to foster local talent and to help local musicians reach their goals. Providing recording time, spins on FREE 98.1 and now a showcase in front of industry leaders not only instills confidence in the bands that win, but helps them to start in this industry with their best foot forward. We are very proud of our winning Made in London bands and hope that we have played a small part in their future success," says Ron Dann, president of Blackburn Radio Inc.

The multi-genre showcase will include Taylor Holden, Wolf Saga, Julia Haggarty, Hiroshima Hearts, and Texas King with one remaining spot to be confirmed after a final contest winner is announced on April 25.

Tanya Marie Harris, the River Junction Band, Genevieve Fisher, Julia Haggarty, and Aaron Allen and the Small City Saints will perform in the country showcase.
