Dream Lottery Returns For Spring

Dreams of luxury homes, expensive cars, and exotic trips are back as the latest Dream Lottery kicks off in London.

The lottery, which began in 1996, supports the London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Care London, and Children’s Hospital.

Rita Fieder, program manager of the Dream Lottery, says one of the four grand prize homes is already generating intrigue.

"We have a container home. It's an up scale home made of eight shipping containers," says Fieder. "It is just less than 4,000 sq ft and has three floors. There is a whole lot of stuff to check out in this Bayfield house."

The other three top prizes to choose from include a $1.1-million home on Pebblecreek Walk in London, a loft condo on Fiddlehead Place in London, or $1-million cash. Also up for grabs are vacations, cars, and jewellery. The 50/50 draw is back for another year with a guaranteed minimum $250,000 prize.

Fieder says a limited number of tickets for the draw have been printed.

"Reality is we don't have a whole lot of tickets available. There is a maximum 200,000 tickets and then we are going to be giving away 10,000 tickets to be won as prizes. If you win one of those it is more chances to win."

The Dream Lottery has raised more than $27.1-million since 1996 for the LHSC, St. Joseph's Health Care, and Children's Hospital.

"We have to remember that these hospitals combined receive more than 1.5-million patient visits each year from across southwestern Ontario and beyond," says Fieder.

Tickets for the lottery go on sale Thursday with draws throughout May, June and July. The ultimate grand prize draw takes place on July 12. More information can be found at www.dreamitwinit.ca
