Lots To Do In London This Family Day

No matter if you enjoy spending time indoors or outdoors, London has tons of activities to keep everyone entertained this Family Day.

Free skates are being held at three city arenas on Family Day. Skates run from 1pm-3pm at Kinsmen Arena on Granville St. and Stronach Arena on Sandford St. and from 3pm-5pm at Argyle Arena on Wavell St.

For those who prefer to skate outdoors, the ice rink at Victoria Park is open daily from 10am to10pm, while the rink at Covent Garden Market is open daily from 11am to 7pm.

There are recreational swims at Canada Games Aquatic Centre on Wonderland Rd. from 1pm-3pm, Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre on Elizabeth St. from 1pm-3pm, and South London Community Pool on Bradley Ave. from 10am-noon.

Several community centres will be hosting free pancake breakfasts. For a list of locations and times, click here.

Storybook Gardens is hosting an outdoor campfire, meet and greets with a dogsled team, horse drawn wagon rides (available for an additional fee), and a visit from the 12 foot Polar Bear, Can Bear. Festivities run 10am-5pm.

Drop by Eldon House at 481 Ridout St. North from 1pm-4pm for a tour of London's oldest residence and hands-on activities for children and adults in the Interpretive Centre. Admission is $6 per person.

Centennial Hall is hosting Family Games Day from 10am-5pm. Families can choose from more than 100 board games to play, with volunteers on-hand to help with game selection. Admission is $5 per person/$10 per family.

The Children's Museum invites families to participate in the Amazing Family Day Race at 10am. Working through clues that require creative, physical, and mental skills, families must navigate through the museum. Participating families will be entered to win four tickets to Monster Jam or Disney On Ice at Budweiser Gardens. The Children's Museum will also be holding a Family Day Yoga session at 10:30am.

For those taking public transit to Family Day events, remember the LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule.
