Super Bowl RIDE Program Win For Police

London police nearly had an impaired driving shutout on Super Bowl Sunday.

Police set-up RIDE checkpoints throughout the city with over 1,000 vehicles passing through them. Of those vehicles only two drivers were asked to provide breath samples and both were found to be well under the legal limit of alcohol in their blood.

The perfect score came to an unfortunate halt just before midnight when officers were called to a crash on Berkshire Dr. A man was charged with impaired driving in relation to the collision.

Despite the one drunk driving incident, police are pleased with the results of the day. They also noted many of the drivers they encountered were pleased to see them. Police say nearly all drivers they saw at RIDE checkpoints said the slight delay was worth it to reduce impaired driving.
