Police Remind Football Fans To Drive Sober

No matter which team you're cheering for, London police have a winning message for Super Bowl Sunday - don't drink and drive.

The Denver Broncos battle the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 Sunday. Police are reminding sports fans heading to bars and house parties to watch the big game to plan on having safe ride home.

In a release issued Friday, Traffic Sergeant Amanda Pfeffer says, "police want to encourage all football fans to enjoy one of the biggest single day sporting events of the year. That being said, we also want fans to understand the difference between the often extraordinary atmosphere of the game and the realities of impaired driving."

Police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers well before the game's 6:30pm start and will remain vigilant long after the game wraps up.

OPP have echoed those sentiments, urging those planning on drinking to arrange for a designated driver, take a cab, call a sober driver for a ride, or plan to stay over.

Anyone hosting a Super Bowl party is advised to serve drinks rather than having a self- serve bar, not to serve alcohol to anyone already drunk, offer non-alcoholic alternatives, and provide food and snacks.
