Western Raises $717K For United Way

A campus-wide fundraising effort at Western University has brought in more than $700,000 for the United Way of London and Middlesex.

The university announced the 2015 campaign total Thursday. Under the theme of "Growing Stronger Together" Western raised $717,858. Since the 1990's, it has contributed nearly $11-million to the United Way.

“Western takes great pride in its role as one of the largest workplace contributors to the United Way of London and Middlesex,“ says Western’s President Amit Chakma. “We are excited that this year’s campaign saw an increase in engagement with student groups on campus as well as the involvement of GenNext in a number of unique projects across the community.”

Western staff, faculty, and students showed their support in several ways including volunteering to organize special events, climbing stairs, and donating through payroll deduction.

United Way officials will announce the total amount of money raised through the 2015 campaign and whether they reached the $9.1-million goal on March 5.
