Dog Sickened By Discarded Food

London police are reminding the public not to let small children or pets eat food that has been thrown on the ground after a dog became ill from doing just that.

Police say Wriggley, a 70lbs Labradoodle, was walking with its owner in Chesham Heights Park on Castlegrove Blvd. around 7:30am Tuesday when the dog ate something, believe to be food, off of the ground.

Roughly 40 minutes later the dog became unresponsive and was taken to a veterinarian. The dog is currently listed in stable condition.

Police believe this was an isolated incident but are warning parents and animal lovers to make sure small children and pets don't eat any strange items that have been discarded in backyards, parks, or paths.

Anyone who comes across any suspicious material is asked to call police immediatley at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
