A St. Thomas man is facing sexual assault charges after police say an 11-year-old girl was touched inappropriately.
St. Thomas police began investigating December 2 after it was alleged the 11-year-old girl was assaulted on two separate occasions.
The investigation included the assistance of the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Police then arrested a 38-year-old man on Monday in connection with the sexual assault.
He is charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a person under 16, two counts of sexual interference with a person under 16, and invitation to sexual touching.
Police say the victim and the accused were known to each other but the nature of their relationship has not been released.
