London police are reminding shoppers to use caution when responding to online ads after a woman was attacked while meeting a seller from Kijiji.
Police say the woman agreed to meet a man selling a cell phone at 560 Proudfoot Lane at 9pm Wednesday. Once there, the man told the woman to wait for him in the stairwell of the second floor. He returned a short time later, held a knife to her and demanded her wallet.
The man then took off with the wallet. The woman was not hurt.
Police are looking for a man described as 18-20-years-old, 5'9"-5'10", slim build, dark features, short brown hair, and thick eyebrows. He was wearing a green winter coat with a fur trimmed hood, baggy jeans, work boots, and a toque.
Police are encouraging all online buyers and sellers to always select a public place with high visibility when making arrangements to meet in person.
