CP Holiday Train Stops In London Tuesday

It's the one time of the year Londoners are excited to see a train stopped on the tracks in the downtown.

The CP Holiday Train makes its annual visit to the city Tuesday.

It will stop on the tracks on Richmond St. near Piccadilly St. at 8:15pm, with one car opening for musical performances by Kira Isabella and Wes Mack. The train will leave by 9pm.

The 14 car train, decked out with hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights, visits 150 communities during the holiday season as it collects cash and non-perishable food donations.

All donations made in London will go to the London Food Bank.

The two holiday trains began their Christmas journey in Montreal November 27 and 28. The Canadian train travels across the west, ending in British Columbia. The US train visits communities across the U.S. Northeast and Midwest, and returns back to Canada for shows in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

More than $10.6-million and 3.6-million pounds of food have been collected during the Holiday Train's voyages since 1999.

Prior to its stop in London the Holiday Train will be in Woodstock from 6:40pm until 7:10pm.
