Huron Bruce Farmers Turbine Challenge Court Costs Cut

A court ruling that reduced the legal bill for the four families fighting wind energy projects Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Huron East and Kincardine was welcomed by the families.

The wind energy companies had asked for $340,000. The courts set the bill at $67,000.

Shawn Drennan of A-C-W says the reduced amount for him is at least 'reasonable.'

He explains, "$25,000. for us from $250,000. I mean $250,000. was gross, $25,000, though a lot of money, it is a managable amount."

Drennan also points out the court ruling recognizes the public interest component of their case, and that's critical going forward.

He says, "It does set out that we are a public interest case, and I think it will help us to make a decision moving forward."
