CCAC Employees Returning To Work

The Community Care Access Centres have agreed to arbitration with the Ontario Nurses’ Association, which will allow employees at nine CCACs across the province to go back to work.

Talks between the two groups and a mediator from the Ministry of Labour, resumed on Saturday to resolve the strike. The CCACs and ONA have agreed to participate in interest arbitration to settle the outstanding issue regarding wages.

ONA-represented CCAC employees, who have been on strike since January 30, will begin returning to work on Tuesday.

"We are very pleased that we will be able to resume our full range of care to patients," says Megan Allen-Lamb, a provincial CCAC spokesperson, and CEO of North Simcoe Muskoka CCAC, in a media release. "We thank our patients, and health care partners in the home, community, long-term care and hospital sectors for their patience and support through this time. We look forward to having our employees return to CCACs to resume their important work in providing care to patients."
