A member of the Chatham-Kent Police Service is facing a total of 50 fraud-related charges following an external investigation.
Back in July, Chief Dennis Poole asked the London Police Service to investigate Sgt. Bob Mugridge after he was charged with discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act and suspended from duty with pay.
Sgt. Mugridge now faces 47 counts of fraud under $5,000, three counts of fraud over $5,000, and will face additional charges under the Police Services Act as the matter proceeds through the courts. "It was a very detailed investigation, the London Police Service did an exhaustive investigation," says Chatham-Kent police Inspector Ed Reed. "As the number of charges indicate, it's a very serious matter."
Over the summer, police told BlackburnNews.com the investigation centered on loans from financial institutions, members of the police service, and members of the public. Mugridge will appear in court on March 24 and remains suspended from duty with pay.
