Firefighters Injured In Blaze

Three firefighters are in hospital after a residential unit caught fire in London.

The London Fire Department says on Saturday around 12pm, one resident and a dog were in the unit on Clarence St. when the fire erupted.

Police say the resident made it out safely but three firefighters suffered second degree burns after being caught in a flashover. Fire officials say the firefighters were taken to hospital for treatment but are expected to be released Saturday evening.

The dog that was in the unit had to be rescued by fire crews and resuscitated. The animal was taken to a vet and is expected to recover.

Damage to the residential unit is estimated at around $200,000 and the Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate.
