London Hosts PC Party Debate

The five candidates vying for the top spot with the Ontario Progressive Conservatives will meet for the second leadership debate Monday night in London.

MPPs Christine Elliott, Vic Fedeli, Lisa MacLeod and Monte McNaughton, along with MP Patrick Brown, will attend the London Convention Centre at 7pm in an attempt to win over party members during the public meeting.

This is the first debate for McNaughton, who did not attend the previous one back in November in Sudbury.

PC Party President Richard Ciano, who will be moderating the event in London, says the candidates will be focusing on questions directed to them by the membership.

"We are opening it up quite a bit and making it more spontaneous by having live questions from people who stand up at the debate and ask them," he says. "It does require some quick thinking and spontaneity on behalf of the candidates."

Ciano says there will be at least another three debates held leading up to May when the members will vote in their new party leader. The results of the vote will be announced on May 9 at the PC Party’s leadership convention in Toronto.

Monday night's debate will be live-streamed here.
