A London surgeon known around the world for his work in obstetrics and gynecology is being honoured by Ontario's Lieutenant Governor.
Dr. Hugh Allen is among 25 people who will be appointed to the Order of Ontario later this month. He is being honoured for his work in women's health, including several innovations in gynaecological and oncological surgery.
Allen is often credited with developing treatments for women with cervical cancer and for travelling to over 30 countries to share his knowledge with other doctors.
In September, he donated $2-million to the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Dr. Allen will be invested into the Order of Ontario by the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, at a ceremony on January 20.
