Support Slipping For Earth Hour

As support dwindles for Earth Hour in London, city officials are taking the well known public awareness campaign in a different direction.

It is more than just lights off this year, Londoners are being asked to look at how they can make their daily routine more environmentally friendly, whether it be taking the bus, walking to work or using renewable energy.

Meanwhile, the Thames Valley District School Board will be in darkness this afternoon between 1pm-2pm.

London Hydro reported a slight increase in usage during Earth Hour 2014, which is mainly blamed on poor weather and colder temperatures.

The decrease in consumption has been slipping for a few years, so the organization says monitoring usage during this year's Earth Hour will not be a major priority.

However, lights across the city will be dimmed between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on Saturday.
