The spring thaw means city crews are out patrolling and patching potholes across London.
Officials say March has been busy, and the city is on track to spend $450,000 patching holes in the road again this year.
"With the freeze and thaw you still can get those potholes popping up. We have, on any given day, 16 trucks out there patching potholes," says London's Manager of Transportation and Roadside Assistance John Parsons.
The city is required under Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards to patrol for potholes. If your car is damaged by a hole in the road while driving in London you can file a claim with the city.
"You'd have to prove that we didn't follow the standards to patch that pothole. We identify them or someone reports them, then we have so many days to patch them," Parsons tells BlackburnNews.com. "We keep records of that."
Parsons says it was a slow start to the season due to a frozen February.
He is also asking drivers to keep an eye out for street sweepers and crews out cleaning garbage that has been frozen in snow banks for the last several months.
