Officials say sudden cardiac death accounts for 40,000 deaths in Canada each year and is tracking to be the number one cause of death and morbidity worldwide by 2020.

The network will be made up of 100 investigators from across the nation who hope to explore the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disturbances and sudden cardiac death.
