Henderson Donating Dale-TV Gear

Dale Henderson says he is not keeping the equipment he used for his "Dale TV" videos.

The outgoing Ward 9 councillor says he is donating the cameras to the city's communications department.

Henderson launched his YouTube channel in early 2013 and produced a series of videos which showed him pontificating on a number of issues including the media, taxes, job creation, and bus transportation.

"They gave us a stipend for 2 years to try to get the best message to my ward, which I did. I started www.daletv.ca. I got 30,000 hits, but the media didn't like that. They didn't like the editoral board for Dale TV, " says Henderson. "We all got the same money, we all spent the same money, everybody got something out of it."

He billed taxpayers for the cameras and other video production equipment to the tune of $5,046.41. Henderson had, on several occasions, said he planned on keeping the equipment after he finished his term on council.

But he has had a change of heart.

A statement from Henderson says, "The cameras I purchased for my ward communication initiative will be donated to the City of London's Communications Department. These cameras may be utilized to record short videos from council which could then be broadcasted from their website or social media outlets. The City of London's Treasurer, Martin Hayward and other staff may also utilize these cameras to record messages to the public."

He also says the cameras will also be made available to the Christian Churches Network of London to broadcast services on the internet.
