Conservation Authority Urges Caution Near Waterways

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is asking you to stay away from rivers and streams as the snow melts and water levels rise.

Officials say local rivers and streams are expected to swell, but no significant flooding is expected.

Current forecasts predict temperatures in the London area will reach 9 C in the coming days and 20-40 mm of rain is expected.

Parents are reminded to keep an eye on children playing outside at all times, as many watercourses are disguised by snow right now.

Flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood and Pittock are at seasonal levels, but the UTRCA is monitoring water levels.
