A retired London couple is the city’s newest multi-millionaires thanks to a big lottery win.
Malvin Knight and Audrey Gill claimed Saturday’s $17.4-million Lotto 6-49 prize on Tuesday. The OLG’s Barb Davis says Knight and Gill were very excited when they arrived in Toronto to pick up their cheque. They checked their numbers on Sunday morning and managed to keep a lid on the fact that they’d won. Gill says they are longtime 6-49 players who bought the ticket just before the kiosks closed last Saturday night.
Davis says Knight, who’s 73 and Gill, 60, have been together for 18 years. They plan to help family and friends with their new-found wealth. Knight has 3 children and 7 grandchildren while Gill has 1 child and 2 grandchildren, plus 9 siblings. They bought their winning ticket at a Mac’s store on Trafalgar Street.
