Laundromat Coin Theft

Police say one or more suspects went into a Wallaceburg laundromat and left with more than just the whites.

According to a release, the incident happened Wednesday between midnight and 1:30am. Police said an unknown number of suspects entered the Westown Laundromat on Dufferin Ave. and stole the change machine valued at $8,000.

Earlier that night police responded to an unknown number of suspects broke into a garage in Wallaceburg.

Police said it happened sometime between 9pm and 9:45pm when one or more suspects entered an unlocked residence and garage on Nelson St. According to police roughly $5,000 worth of electronics, cash and food were stolen.

Bicycles Stolen in Chatham

Police said three mountain bikes were stolen from a Chatham Garage between 2am and 7am Thursday morning.

According to police, the incident happened at a garage on Sherwood Crt. The bikes are described as a men’s red 26 inch Giant Revel mountain bike valued at $400, a men’s blue 26” Trek Jack 1 mountain bike valued at $500 and a women’s blue 26” Schwinn mountain bike valued at $250.

Chatham-Kent police would like to remind everyone registering bikes on the Bicycle Registry will increase the chances of having it returned if stolen and recovered. Bikes can be registered at http://ckpolice.com/bicycle-registry/

Man Arrested After Multiple Shoplifting Incidents

A Moraviantown man is facing four charges after allegedly shoplifting items from Sobey's and Walmart in Chatham.

Police responded to a complaint at the Sobey’s on August 11 and to the Walmart incident on August 13.

Through investigation, police said they identified a suspect for both thefts.

A 36-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

Police said he was released pending a future court date of September 12, 2018.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Wednesday night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Charing Cross Rd. which resulted in an arrest for an outstanding warrant.

When police attended the call they learned that the man in the residence was wanted for driving while disqualified and failing to attend court.

The Harwich Township man was arrested and released pending a future court date of September 5, 2018.

Alleged Gas Theft In Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are releasing some pictures of a suspect who is wanted in connection with a gas theft.

Officers say they are trying to identify the woman pictured below in connection with an investigation at the Shell Gas Bar on Dufferin Ave.
