Homeowner Charged After Police Find Drugs

A 35-year-old Chatham man is in some trouble with the law after officers say they found some marijuana at his home recently.

Police say they found the drugs while they were executing a search warrant at a residence on Gray St. last week.

No one was home at the time, but police were able to track down the homeowner Sunday night and arrested him.

He's now charged with drug possession and has been released with conditions and a future court date.

Two Domestic Assault Arrests

Chatham-Kent police say they have made a pair of arrests in connection with two different domestic assault investigations.

In the first case, police say a 42-year-old Wallaceburg man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and damaging her cell phone during an argument Sunday night.

When police arrived, they heard that it wasn't the first time the man had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, either.

Police say they arrested the man and charged him with two counts of assault and one count of mischief.

In the second case, police say a 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged after he allegedly assaulted and threatened his wife Sunday afternoon.

Officers say the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries and later released.

ATV Stolen From Unlocked Barn

Police are trying to track down an ATV that was stolen from a barn on Baldoon Rd. over the weekend.

Officers say it's a white 2006 Suzuki LTZ 400 ATV and it was last seen with the Ontario license plate 7FA11.

Police believe it was taken sometime between 12am and 5am Sunday.

Boat Stolen From Dock On Snye River

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to find a boat that was stolen from a dock along the Snye River.

Officers say it was taken either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

It is described as a 16 ft Starcraft aluminum boat with a grey 40hp Mariner engine and is valued at approximately $5,000.

Chainsaws Stolen From Thamesville Shed

Police are investigating after three STIHL chainsaws, a STIHL weed trimmer, and a 10-foot fishing pole were all taken from an unlocked shed on Sherman St. in Thamesville.

Officers say the combined value of the stolen items is estimated at $3,500.

It's believed they were taken sometime between 12am and 5am Sunday.
