Trying to avoid a RIDE stop didn’t work out too well for a Chatham woman.

RIDE spot checks were conducted in Wallaceburg and Tilbury Saturday night.

Police say a 22-year-old woman drove through a RIDE check in Tilbury. Officers stopped the woman on Mill St. W. and conducted a roadside breath test.

As a result, she was issued a ticket and a seven-day licence suspension.

A 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged following a single-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews were called to St. Clair Rd. and Pioneer Line Saturday evening around 4:40pm.

Police say the vehicle lost control and went into a light pole.

The 25-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters for a breath test. He was charged with careless driving and was also issued a three-day licence suspension.

A 19-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being intoxicated in public.

Police say they were called out to Longwoods Rd. Saturday night around 11pm.

Officers found the man in the middle of the road. The 19-year-old was then arrested and taken to police headquarters until sober.
