Police Briefs – Monday April 17, 2017

Charges have been laid after a man was spotted drinking beer while driving.

Chatham-Kent police say the complaint was called in around noon on Sunday.

A pickup truck was stopped on Richmond St. in Chatham, where police say there were several open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

The driver was given a roadside test but failed, which resulted in his arrest. Police later determined that the male driver had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

A 53-year-old man has since been charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

Police are looking for any information regarding a break-in that happened in Chatham.

During the Easter long weekend, police say unknown suspects broke into a business on Communication Rd.

An unknown amount of jewelry and coins has been reported stolen.

A Windsor woman has been arrested for failing to show up in court forĀ a theft related incident.

Police say a 29-year-old woman was arrested in March for an incident that happened in Tilbury. She was scheduled to appear in court on March 27 but she didn’t show up. As a result, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Windsor police arrested the woman on Sunday and took her to Chatham-Kent police headquarters.

She has been charged with failing to attend court and has been given another court date.
