Police Briefs – Sunday April 16, 2017

Chatham-Kent police have kept busy this long weekend, conducting several RIDE programs.

About 215 vehicles were stopped Saturday night. Of those vehicles, two drivers were handed three-day license suspensions.

On Sunday morning around 12:40am, police stopped a 30-year-old woman at a checkpoint on Lacroix St. in Chatham.

Police believed she was impaired but the woman refused to take a breath test.

As a result, she was arrested and taken to police headquarters until sober.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his common-law wife.

Police say an argument between the couple escalated when the alleged assault happened.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Saturday and held in custody for a bail hearing.
