Police Briefs – Saturday March 11, 2017

The Ministry of Labour is investigating an industrial accident in Chatham.

Police say on Friday around 4:45pm, emergency crews were called out to Meritor on Park Ave. E. in Chatham.

A 58-year-old man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life threatening injuries.

A 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged following an incident at police headquarters.

On Friday, police say the man went to police headquarters to let officials know about an address change.

However, he had two outstanding warrants for breaching his recognizance so police arrested him.

Police say the man became angry and kicked a chair, causing damage to it.

The 37-year-old was taken to the Southwest Detention Centre for a bail hearing. He was charged with mischief under $5,000.

A 42-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested for assaulting police and causing a disturbance.

On Friday around 5am, police were called about a woman causing a disturbance at a hotel on Bloomfield Rd.

Police say she was on the ground “acting strangely.” When police tried to talk to her she started screaming and when they tried to arrest her she allegedly started kicking the officers.

No one was injured but the woman was taken to the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Once released from hospital she was arrested on a warrant for causing a disturbance and assaulting police X2.

The 42-year-old woman was released with a promise to appear in court later this month.
