Police Briefs – Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Police are investigating after a business in the area of Grand Ave. W and Keil Dr. in Chatham was broken into.

Officers responded to an intrusion alarm around 4:20am on Wednesday. A variety of stereo equipment was taken.

A Chatham man, arrested for allegedly being intoxicated in public, is also facing drug charges.

Tuesday night, officers were called to the area of King St. and Lacroix St. in Chatham after receiving a report about an intoxicated man.

Police found him walking across the bridge and determined he was unable to care for himself, so he was arrested.

During the arrest, officers found the suspect was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine. The 51-year-old man was held in custody until sober.


Around $300 in damage was done to a mobile home on Longwoods Rd.

Police say sometime between 9pm and 9:40pm Tuesday night, someone tried to break in, but were unable to gain access.


A Sombra man is facing charges after he was pulled over on St. Clair Rd. in Chatham-Kent.

Police stopped the the 26-year-old early Wednesday morning and found that his license was suspended.

He’s charged with driving while disqualified and driving under suspension.
