Maroons Beat Lincolns 5-2 in St. Marys

The Chatham Maroons continue to boost points in preparation for the playoffs.

Josh Supryka scored twice in the Maroons' 5-2 win over the Lincolns in a Family Day matinee at St. Marys.

The Maroons have 49 points and are in sixth place in the GOJHL Western Conference with three regular-season games left to play this week. Chatham has wrapped up the number-six seed in the upcoming junior-B playoffs.

Supryka scored his first goal just after the halfway point of the first period.

Grant Spence doubled the Maroons lead to 2-0 late in the middle frame, though Michael Andrews' goal soon after put St. Marys on the scoreboard.

Chatham got that goal back at 8:46 of the third period when Jordan Frasca scored unassisted. The Lincolns pulled within one again with a core from Dalton Bancroft, but the Maroons put the game away with Supryka's second goal and an empty-netter from Dane Johnstone.

Lucas Patton was the winner in goal for the Maroons, with 32 saves out of 34 tries. Evan Morrison had 47 saves for the Lincolns.

The Maroons' next game is at Chatham Memorial Arena on Wednesday night where they'll face the Komoka Kings.
