Maroons Dominate Lincolns on Hat Tricks

Bryce Yetman and Steven Fowler each scored hat tricks in the Chatham Maroons' 8-1 drubbing of the St. Marys Lincolns Sunday at Chatham Memorial Arena.

The Maroons have 23 points in the GOJHL Western Conference and are currently sixth in the standings. The Lincolns are in last place with 15 points.

Yetman's first goal started things off at 15:02 in the first period and the score stood at 1-0 at first intermission. The Lincolns tied the game up just 24 seconds into the second period on a short-handed goal by Matthew Zilke, but Fowler scored his first goal on the power play 41 seconds later and the Maroons stayed in the lead for good. Yetman and Fowler each scored their second goals in the remainder of the middle frame.

The Maroons put the game out of reach with four more goals in the third period, as Yetman and Fowler each scored again to complete their hat tricks. Noah Bushnell and Grant Spence also lit the lamp for Chatham in the final stanza.

Yetman also had three assists in the game for a total of six points.

John Massara had 34 saves out of 35 attempts for the Maroons in goal. Evan Morrison stopped 37 shots in the net for St. Marys.

The Lincolns host the LaSalle Vipers on Friday night. The Maroons travel to Sarnia Thursday night to face the Legionnaires. Puck drop is 7:10pm and all of the action can be heard on CFCO Country 92.9FM/AM 630.
