Maroons Fall To Vipers On The Road

The Chatham Maroons' early season struggles continue.

The team lost 4-2 to Lasalle after jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first period thanks to a goal from Noah Bushnell.

The Vipers answered back with four straight goals -- two in the second period and two in the third -- before Jordan Frasca scored for Chatham to cut the lead to 4-2.

After that, the Maroons successfully defended their empty net, but couldn't take advantage of having an extra skater out on the ice, failing to find the back of the net for a third goal.

Maroons defenceman Dakota Bohn says goalie Ryan Wagner kept the game close for them.

"He's a great asset for our team, he really helps us out," says Bohn.

The Maroons were outshot by the Vipers 44 to 31.

Chatham' next game is Sunday night at home against Leamington.

Bohn knows the team will have to make some adjustments if they're going to beat the Flyers.

"We have to win more battles in our own end, we have to play better defensively, and we can't give away breakaways -- that was the worst part," says Bohn, adding the team will need to pick up the slack offensively, too. "We have to get more pucks on net, we don't really get that many shots."
