Cougars Perfect Over The Weekend

The Chatham-Kent Cougars capped off a perfect weekend with a big win at home for the Junior Varsity team.

The JV team beat Hamilton 57-7 Sunday afternoon to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The team certainly spread the ball around in the win -- five different players ended up scoring rushing TDs while three different players hauled in receiving TDs.

On the defensive side, the Cougars also stood tall, allowing just one scoring play -- a single touchdown late in the game.

Quinton Emerick forced the only turnover for the Cougars with an interception in the fourth quarter.

Earlier in the weekend, the Cougars' Bantam and the Peewee both won on the road.

The Bantam team rallied from an early 19-11 deficit at half on Sunday to beat Oakville 47-19.

The Peewees also did their part, beating the North Halton Crimson Tide 6-0.

In the junior girls' division, Hannah Meloche from Sutton Creek finished five shots better than the rest of the field -- she shot an 81.

In the Collegiate Women division, Megan Schauer of Essex and Melanie Burgess of Roseland both finished with 87’s, but Schauer ended up winning playoff by parring all three extra holes.

In the Collegiate Men’s division, Thomas DeMarco of Essex and Bryce Hughes of Rochester Place tied with 2-under-par 70’s through 18 holes. Thomas ended up hitting in a birdie on the first playoff hole to take the title.
