The Windsor Spitfires kick off a three-game home stand tonight against the Ottawa 67's.
After coughing up third period leads in two of their last three games, ending in overtime and shootout loses, Associate Coach Trevor Letowski says they've had some long meetings in the last week.
"They're learning experiences and there's still lots of time in a season so, you know, we're far from being a perfect team, that's for sure," he explains. "We've got a long ways to go."
On a positive note, Spits' Defenceman Mihail Sergachev is heating up.
It took the Montreal Canadiens prospect 16 games to score his first goal after returning from the NHL, but since then, he's registered 12 points in nine games.
"It seems like he's got it going now," says Letowski. "He seems to really have good jump in his step, he's pounding the puck, and that's encouraging for everyone, fans included. We expect him to be an elite player."
Windsor currently sits fourth in the OHL's Western Conference, tied in points with Erie, two points back of London, and just four points behind Sault Ste. Marie with two games in hand.
After tonight, the Spitfires host Niagara on Saturday night and Guelph on Sunday afternoon.
