Maroons Take Sixth Victory in a Row

Steven Beenackers scored two goals, one on the power play, as the Chatham Maroons beat the St. Thomas Stars at home Sunday night 5-1, for their sixth straight victory.

Maroons goalie Lucas Patton knocked away 33 out of 34 Stars shots in the contest.

St. Thomas did score first with the only goal in the first period.  Adam Keyes put his third goal of the year into the net at the 6:25 mark.  Chatham would begin its scoring of five unanswered goals in the second period with Beenackers' first goal, at 1:48.  Josh King would give the Maroons the lead for good at 16:38 in the second period.

Chatham scored three goals in the third period.  Kevin Gursoy came off his four-goal night Saturday with another goal at 5:12 in the final period.  Beenackers would add another tally two minutes and 45 seconds later and Josh Barraclough put the game away later in the period.

The Maroons take their current win streak to Sarnia Thursday night in a clash with the Legionnaires.  St. Thomas will host the St. Marys Lincolns next Sunday night.
