The Essex 73s fell 6-5 in overtime to Alvinston in Great Lakes Junior C hockey Tuesday night.
No one scored in the first period, but in the second, Brett Vorshuk of the 73s put the puck in the net first on a power play goal assisted by Matthew Rosati and Anthony Cristofaro.
Alvinston followed that up with two goals, and by the end of the second, the score was 4-3 for Alvinston. Essex managed to tie the game up by the end of the third with goals by Brett Vorshuk and Riley Meyerink.
Kole Keating scored the winning goal for Alvinston.
The Flyers play the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals on Friday next, while the Essex 73s play in Amherstburg Sunday.
