Maroons Beat Stars In OT

The Chatham Maroons snatched a close game out from under the St. Thomas Stars, winning 5-4 in overtime.

On Friday, the Maroons played a back and forth game with the Stars, but weren't able to gain a lead during all three periods. However, Chatham was able to kill off a two man advantage late in the third before Gus Ford scored with 1:23 to play, tying the game and forcing OT.

Forward Ross Krieger scored the game winner in OT, and also his first Junior B goal. He says it was an exciting way to win the game.

"I got the puck and everything and the (team) was pretty excited, giving me face washes on the celebration," he says. "I couldn't really breathe in there but it was worth it."

The Maroons will take on the Sarnia Legionnaires on Sunday at 7pm.
