Chatham-Kent fire crews from two stations responded to a house fire on Pioneer Line on Monday morning.
Crews were able to stop and contain the fire quickly around 6:30 a.m., tweeting that "working alarms save lives."
Damages have been estimated at $50,000 and no injuries were reported.

Also on Monday, just before 12:30 p.m., firefighters responded to another house fire at 31 Highland Dr.

Fire officials say the homeowner was alerted to the blaze by working smoke alarm and was able to make it out safely. Firefighters also found two cats inside and were able to return them to the owner.
The fire is believed to be accidental but a cause has not been released. The small fire was contained to one room but damage to the home is estimated at around $30,000.
