IPM will attempt to break multiple world records

The International Plowing Match (IPM) is right around the corner and 1,700 people have a chance to make history.

That's how many are needed to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest egg and spoon race.

Representatives from the IPM sent out a release about the record attempt and asked people to register. The challenge will be Tuesday, September 18 at the World Records Tent in Pain Court.

Registration starts at 1:30 p.m. and the race will begin at 2 p.m. According to the release spoons and eggs will be provided.

“Be in on the world record action,” Donna Lunn, projects coordinator with the Ontario Plowmen’s Association said. “Chatham-Kent people are leaders in many ways, and Tuesday September 18 is clearly the occasion for them to show valour, turn out in large numbers and challenge the world for supremacy in the very competitive world’s largest egg and spoon race.”

The race is just one world record the IPM is trying to break. Chef Bob Blumer will attempt to establish the record for largest caesar cocktail. It needs to be at least 500 litres in size.

Then on Thursday the record for most people bobbing for apples at one time will be attempted along with two artists competing for the World’s tallest sugar cube structure.
