Ride-sharing service backs out of CK

A BC-based ride-sharing service that had intended to start operating out of Chatham-Kent has hit the brakes.

GoDriver had previously told Blackburn News that they were planning to have drivers out on local roads by mid-September. However, Kris Cote, president and CEO for Automatic Technologies Inc., sent an email Friday evening that said otherwise.

"We have decided to cease operating in Chatham-Kent due to lack of interest," said Cote in an email.

In the meantime, there is another ride-sharing service that is aiming to become fully operational in the municipality this month. Uride had previously said that while they are vetting drivers, residents should be able to use the ride-sharing service soon.
