CK Hospice creates chain of positivity

The Chatham-Kent Hospice got in on the local positivity movement by creating a chain in which each link contained inspirational words from the community.

Thursday marked Not-For-Profit Day in the 12 Days of Positivity in the municipality. The hospice asked the community, volunteers, residents and their families to submit words or phrases that inspire positivity.

Hospice Executive Director Jessica Smith said staying positive is especially important at the facility.

"The idea of ribbons, threads, connectivity and bringing people together has always been important to use here at Hospice," Smith said. "That's where we decided on the paper links. The idea of connecting people and their positive thoughts."

The Hospice is a 10-bed facility that serves residents who are receiving end of life care. Smith said it is especially important to stay positive at the Hospice.

"Our vision is enriching lives and embracing each day at end-of-life," Smith said. "With that means embracing the good things and making the best of things, so that's why we're really excited about Positivity Day."

Smith added the completed chain will hang in the building's family room for the duration of the 12 Days of Positivity.
